Relay For Life in Vieques

The American Cancer Society holds an annual event in Vieques, Relay For Life, that attracts many locals and visitors. Vieques event is unique in Puerto Rico. Several teams, from local businesses, schools, government and the community, compete against each other for most money donations collected, most track turns walked, participation in goofy games and other activities held in the early hours of the morning of a 24 hour event where nobody is supposed to sleep. This year we had 15 teams (some groups had 2 or 5 teams). Most of the pictures below are during the setup of the teams tents and the parade. The webmaster of this site, Wanda Bermudez, is the captain of the Bermudez & Friends team. This year our theme was El Zorro. Our team got the first prize for most consistency on the track and the most track turns walked. GO TEAM!!
